11 arrested and 29 ticketed in T&T
Several Road traffic exercises were conducted throughout the divisions on the weekend, these exercises saw 11 persons arrested and 29 persons ticketed.
According to police reports, ten men were arrested in the Tobago Division, nine for having a breath alcohol level that exceeded the prescribed limit of 35 microgrammes and one for failure to provide a breath sample for analysis.
In the North-Eastern Division, it was reported that six fixed penalty notices were issued to motorists for the following offences: four persons were ticketed for driving a vehicle without a headlamp; one person for driving with no certificate of insurance and one person for failing to wear a seatbelt.
While in Northern Division (ND), 22 persons were arrested for the following offences six for breach of traffic sign; three for failing to wear a seatbelt; two for parking on a taxi stand one for parking within nine metres of a corner; five for defective tyres; two for bad fittings; two for no certificate of insurance and one for failing to comply.
In another exercise in the ND, a 28-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence, resisting arrest and for assaulting an officer in the execution of his duties. Commissioner of Police (Ag.), Mc Donald Jacob, reminds the public that these exercises are to ensure the safety of every person and to continue to keep the public safe during this holy and festive season. This, he says, can only be achieved in partnership with pedestrians and motorists alike who adhere to the road traffic regulations.
