40-year-old man charged with killing Family Court counsellor in SVG
A 40-year-old man appeared in court on Wednesday, charged with murdering a Family Court Counsellor in Saint Vincent.
Reynold Roberts of Harmony Hall is charged that on May 1, with malice aforethought, he caused the death of his 42-year-old ex-girlfriend, of the same address, with whom he was in a relationship until earlier this year.
Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne read the murder charge to the accused, represented by lawyer Grant Connell. He was not allowed to plead to the indictable charge.
Crown Counsel Renee Simmons appeared for the prosecution, which is set to call 15 witnesses during the preliminary inquiry, which is set for September 1.
The victim’s body was found in her car in Buccament Bay around 9:15 am Sunday.
CMC News understands she was found after a woman who claimed that a man had assaulted her told her during the alleged assault that he had killed Roberts and left her body in her car.
The information triggered a major police operation that discovered the body and the accused’s arrest in Buccament Bay.
Her killing was among four homicides here on the Labour Day weekend, taking the tally for 2022 to 14.
