46-year-old man drowns in St. Croix River, Minnesota
A 46-year-old father drowned after going underwater 4-6 feet deep in the St. Croix River Saturday.
The incident happened at William O'Brien State Park in Washington County, with the sheriff's office identifying the victim as Chandra Mohan Laghuvaram.
The sheriff's office says he was playing with his kids in water 4-6 feet deep when he went under and failed to resurface for reasons that for now remain unknown.
Responders were called to the scene at around 4 p.m. and pulled Laghuvaram from about 8 feet of water and brought him to the shore, but lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful.
He was at the state park, just north of Marine on St. Croix, with his wife, children, and other family members.
An official cause of death will be confirmed at a later date by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner.
