A 33 years old Jamaican woman accused of murder in Bahamas
33-year-old Natasha Beckford, the resident of Marshall Road in the Bahamas, has been charged with the murder of 31-year-old Lakiesha Mackey. It was reported that on Saturday, February 20, about 11 pm, Mackey and Beckford were engaged in an argument in a parking lot of the Mayfair Hotel on West Bay Street in the Bahamas. On Monday, Beckford appeared before a Bahamian magistrate's court, where she was remanded into police custody until June 16. The dispute subsequently escalated and Beckford is alleged to have stabbed the woman several times in the back.
The wounded woman was taken to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries a day later. "You (the deceased) are not my mother or my daughter. Don't put your hand on me," the Jamaican said in one of the videos. Shortly after, a photograph of the Jamaican was released, urging persons to provide information that could lead to her arrest. In response, Beckford made two live video recordings which were posted on social media, in which she admitted she stabbed the woman, but claimed her actions were in self-defense.
"... and if you die, I sorry yuh dead because I didn't mean to do it. I was defending myself, okay. So if yuh dead, I'm sorry, and may your soul rest in peace because mi never means fi kill yuh," she expressed.
"Dem a say mi give yuh how much stab! Mi nuh give yuh nuh how much stab. I give yuh two stab(s). So how the f%$& yuh dead? I give yuh two stab(s)! Two stab(s)!" she further stated.
It is not clear how long after the video recordings were posted that the Jamaican was arrested by the Bahamian police. The Jamaican said she was not hiding, and lashed out at those who were circulating her photographs on social media.
