Antigua and Barbuda update COVID-19 quarantine requirements
Asymptomatic contacts of persons infected with coronavirus (COVID-19) will no longer need a PCR test to exit their 14-day quarantine.
The Ministry of Health announced this new development today as it updated the criteria for Quarantine release for Contacts of COVID-19 Cases.
The ministry said its policy, which went into effect immediately, is in keeping with a World Health Organisation (WHO) advisory.
You are considered a contact of a COVID-19 person if you have experienced any one of the following exposures during the 2 days before and the 14 days after the onset of symptoms of a probable or confirmed case of COVID-19:
- Face-to-face contact with someone who has a confirmed or probable SARS-CoV-2 infection within 1 meter and for more than 15 minutes;
- Direct physical contact with someone with an actual or likely SARS-CoV-2 disease;
- Direct care for an individual with a confirmed or probable SARS-CoV-2 infection without using appropriate personal protective equipment.
People who are confirmed to be infected with COVID-19 or suspected of having the virus will still need a negative COVID-19 test to be released from isolation.
