Antiguan Causion to release EP 'Mission in Progress' on 56th birthday
Over the past four years, Antiguan singer Causion has fought serious health issues.
His resilience has helped him fight colon cancer, and he is looking forward to celebrating his 56th birthday in style on June 24.
On that day, the singer’s EP 'Mission in Progress' will be released. It is co-produced by Causion and Maurice Gregory, his long-time friend.
'Mission in Progress' has seven songs, including the title track, the reflective 'Thank You', and the patriotic 'Antigua Me Come From'.
According to Causion, the project is his most satisfying to date.
“My fans can expect this body of work to touch them in their hearts and souls. That is where it came from, every song has a special place in my heart, and I hope that my fans will feel the same way, to remember through difficult times we will overcome but the mission is still in progress,” he said.
'Antigua Me Come From' hears Causion expressing love for his country, famous for producing legendary cricketers like Vivian Richards and Curtly Ambrose, and home to 365 beaches.
The single has been picked up by Antguan tourism officials for its advertising campaign and is also the theme song for Team Antigua Island Girls, who are competing in the inaugural Pacific Challenge. That 4,444 kilometres rowing competition, which involves 20 teams, started June 12 in Monterey Harbour, California and is scheduled to end at Hanalei Bay on the island of Kauai.
Causion, whose real name is Gregory Bailey, credits spirituality and music for helping him overcome difficult times.
“I'm taking my time reaching into my inner self. See, I ask my Father to show me the way, and I will follow.
Music is so powerful, you only have to listen and the journey becomes clearer,” he said.
