Armed robber jailed for two years in the Bahamas
A 27-year-old man who robbed a deli in 2016 was sentenced to two years.
Nossia Lynden Haven will be on probation for two years after he completes his prison sentence.
Haven pleaded guilty to three counts of armed robbery as part of a plea deal when he appeared before Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson.
On May 2, 2016, Haven and other men held Rachel’s Deli. The cashier was robbed of $760, and two customers were robbed of their personal belongings.
Police could identify Haven after viewing surveillance footage, the prosecutor Raquel Whyms told the court.
Haven agreed with the summary presented by Whyms and confirmed that he had pleaded guilty of his own free will.
Haven’s lawyer, Moses Bain, said that his client was remorseful and was the father of a one-year-old.
He asked that Haven be enrolled in the prison’s carpentry program so that he could take care of himself and his family upon release.
Bain also asked the judge to recommend that Bain be placed in medium security.
Whyms, who appeared along with Karine MacVean, did not object to those proposals.
