Bahamas: Man accused of molesting stepdaughter

A man accused of molesting his stepdaughter was remanded to prison.
Prosecutors allege that the 52-year-old man started sexually abusing his wife’s 11-year-old daughter in December 2021. The abuse allegedly continued until March 2023. The alleged victim is now 12.
The man’s name and address have been withheld to protect the identity of his alleged victim.
He was not required to enter pleas to three counts of attempted unlawful sexual intercourse when he first appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.
He was remanded to prison as the magistrate lacked the jurisdiction to consider bail for the charge. The accused, however, can apply for bail in the Supreme Court.
His next court date is September 7.
