Bahamas: Man arrested for having sex with a mentally ill woman
A man who allegedly took advantage of a woman with a mental disorder was remanded to prison on his 68th birthday.
Prosecutors allege that Perry Forbes, of Mount Pleasant Village, had sex with the 52-year-old woman between August 19 and 20. They allege that the woman lacked the mental capacity to consent to the act.
Prosecutors plan to fast-track the case to the Supreme Court for trial In October.
Attorney Richard Boodle represents Forbes, and Sergeant Kendrick Bauld prosecuted.
Forbes was not required to enter a plea to the charge of unlawful sexual intercourse with a person with a mental disorder when he appeared before Senior Magistrate Defense Rolle-Davis yesterday.
Forbes will have to seek bail in the Supreme Court because the magistrate lacks jurisdiction to consider bail for the charge.
