Bahamas: Man killed outside PLP Yamacraw constituency office
An altercation outside the Progressive Liberal Party’s (PLP) Yamacraw constituency headquarters has led to a party supporter being killed by someone police said was known to him.
Zane Lightbourne, the PLP’s Yamacraw candidate, said, “We were shocked and saddened to lose one of our campaign volunteers to a violent crime today. We offer our most sincere condolences to his family.
“Our very capable Royal Bahamas Police Force is investigating the tragic incident.”
Police Press Liaison ASP Audley Peters said police arrived on the scene of the murders at Antigua Avenue shortly after 7 p.m. and found the body of a man in his late 30s, who lived in the area, dead with stab wounds to his upper torso.
Peters said there was no evidence so far to suggest the killing was politically motivated.
“It appeared that there was an argument that led to this stabbing,” Audley said.
“…It’s an unfortunate situation that resulted as a result of an argument.”
He also said police have a suspect in custody.
