Bahamas: Teens accused of robbing, shooting policeman
Prosecutors have charged two teenagers who they say are responsible for the attempted murder and armed robbery of an off-duty policeman.
Nathan Williams, 18, of Ridgeland Park West, and Cosintino Gervais, 18, of Carmichael Road, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain in connection with the August 13 incident.
According to police, Corporal 549 Patrick Kemp was at Roberts Drive in South Beach around 2 a.m. when he was approached by two men who robbed him of a Nissan Infiniti worth $10,000 and shot him.
Police say Kemp remains in critical condition in the hospital.
On the same date, police allegedly found Gervais with a Glock .40 pistol and ten unfired rounds of ammunition.
He faces charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition.
Williams and Gervais were not required to enter pleas to the charges during their court appearance, and they were denied bail.
They are expected to return to court on November 21 to receive a voluntary bill of indictment.
