Bahamas: Two men accused of sex crimes against minors
Two men accused of sex crimes against minors were denied bail yesterday.
Altus Newbold, 50, is accused of kissing a teenager after breaking into his home in Orange Creek, Cat Island, around 10 p.m. on November 2, 2021.
Newbold did not have to enter a plea to the charges when he made his initial court appearance before Assistant Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain.
Chanton Butler, 20, was accused of unlawful sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl in the same court.
Prosecutors allege that Butler, a resident of Sir Lynden Pindling Estates in New Providence, forced the minor to perform a sex act on him on November 2.
Neither man had to enter a plea to the charges. They are both expected to return to court on December 16 to present a voluntary bill of indictment.
