Bahamas welcomed six million visitors from Jan. to Nov. 2022
The Bahamas welcomed 6.053 million tourists up to November 2022, just shy of the 6.539 million visitors in the record period of January to
November 2019, according to Ministry of Tourism data.
It’s four times the 1.59 million tourists recorded up to the same point in 2021.
Nassau and Paradise Island received the majority of visitors at 2.83 million, 995,074 of which were air arrivals.
The Berry Islands followed with 1.53 million visitors, the vast majority of which were sea arrivals.
Bimini received 463,046 visitors, Grand Bahama received 326,272, Abaco 312,034, and Half Moon Cay 309,083.
The tourism industry has seen a bullish rebound since the start of 2022 and the lifting of COVID-19 travel restrictions.
Ministry of Tourism officials have projected that forward bookings for the first quarter of 2023 are already trending 11 percent ahead of 2019.
And last month, both of the country’s mega resorts – Atlantis and Baha Mar – forecasted occupancies for 2023 that would surpass 2019 levels.
The Bahamas saw a record 7.249 million tourists in 2019, the most in a single year for the destination.
Tourism officials have touted their marketing missions, particularly in new markets, for the growing interest in The Bahamas as a top destination for travelers.
