Bahamas: Woman charged with murder of British expat
A 31-year-old Bahamian woman was yesterday charged with the murder of British expatriate worker Marcus Hinsbey.
Hinsbey, 58, a technical account manager, was stabbed to death in his condominium at the Venito development in Westridge Estates on September 24. Police said that there was no sign of forced entry and that they met his place locked and had to be let in by the property manager.
Police went to check on Hinsbey after he didn’t come to work.
Prosecutors say that Felicia Bonimy, a resident of Southwind Close, is responsible for his death.
She was not required to enter a plea to the murder charge when she appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.
Bonimy, represented by Ryszard Humes, was refused bail because the magistrate lacked the authority to consider bail for murder; however, she can make a bail application in the Supreme Court.
Bonimy’s mother and sister embraced her before she was led off to a holding cell before she was transported to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
She will return to court on December 13.
Meanwhile, two men accused of murder on Abaco have been charged.
Prosecutors say, Billy Antoine, of Abaco, and Theophilus Lloyd, of Pinewood Gardens, are responsible for the September 28 shooting death of Andre Kikivarakis, who was nicknamed Pigeon.
Officers found his bullet-riddled body behind a business in Crossing Rocks in South Abaco after being dispatched to investigate reports of gunshots.
Antoine and Lloyd did not have to enter pleas to the charge and were denied bail.
The men will return to court on December 8.
