Barbados: Entertainers calling for an end to the curfew
The entertainment industry asks the Government to remove the midnight to 5 a.m. curfew.
Some players also hope that the state gives the Crop Over Festival the green light and stops value-added tax (VAT) for an extended period.
Those were some suggestions, president of the Barbados Association of Calypsonians and Artistes (BACA) Sean Apache Carter and promoter and chief executive officer of Nouvelle Vie Entertainment Orlando Newton made yesterday.
“We follow the mandates, and they have been working with us to get our events started, which we very much appreciate, but at this time, we think that the curfew is probably our most significant issue.
“In our culture, people come out late, but now everyone has to leave early,” Newton said.
Similarly, Carter said it might be time to rethink the additional restrictions considering the political rallies held in January during the general election and T20 cricket at Kensington Oval, which had mass gatherings.
