Bequia resident jailed for gun and ammunition offences
An unemployed man from Bequia will spend some time in prison after he was arrested and charged with having an illegal firearm and ammunition.
On August 8, police arrested and charged Tiquiado Williams, 26, of Bequia with theft of a firearm, possession of an illegal firearm without a license issued under the Firearms Act, and possession of 15 rounds of .9mm ammunition without a license issued under the Firearms Act.
The offences occurred at Arnos Vale in July.
Williams appeared before the Serious Offences Court and pleaded guilty to the offences. He was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment for the theft of the firearm, two years and three months for the possession of the firearm, and 13 months for the possession of ammunition.
The sentences will run concurrently.
