Bermuda: Body found at Marginal Wharf identified as missing former MP
The Bermuda Police Service has confirmed speculations that a body, which was found in a van submerged in the sea off Marginal Wharf, is that of former Member of Parliament Darius Tucker.
Tucker,56, was reported missing earlier this week after he failed to return home on March 6.
Detective chief inspector Sherwin Joseph, in confirming Tucker’s death to the media, said there appears to be no foul play in the incident but police are “keeping an open mind”.
Joseph noted the Criminal Investigations Unit has “completed several actions and continue to pursue several lines of inquiry so that we can understand what has occurred.”
He appealed to members of the public with any information on the matter to contact Detective Inspector Derricka Burns at 717-0921 or on the main police hotline at 295-0011.
Cops are particularly interested in CCTV footage from the St David’s area from the day that Tucker went missing.
Premier David Burt described Tucker’s death as “a tragedy” in his condolence message.
“Darius was a warm, kind-hearted person, and a genuinely down-to-earth individual. His untimely passing is immensely sad. His outgoing personality and incredible work ethic made him a welcome addition to the Legislature and the Island is grateful for his public service. On behalf of the Government and people of Bermuda, I express heartfelt condolences to his wife and family as they deal with such a great personal loss,” he said.
