Bermuda: The latest homicide on the island has prompted police to appeal for assistance
This morning the man found dead in Hamilton Parish, Bermuda, was identified as Duane Gibbons.
Gibbons, 57, is the island’s third murder victim for 2021.
Gibbons’ body was found on the eastbound lane of Blue Hole Hill, just east of the Swizzle Inn Restaurant, by a passer-by around 2:20.
He was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where he died from a fatal stab wound.
At a media conference this afternoon at the crime scene, Acting Detective Inspector Jason Smith pleaded with the public for any information that they may have to solve the killing.
“We know that Mr Gibbons is from the Warwick area, and, interestingly, he has found himself in this location at this hour of the morning. How he came to be at this location is vital to our investigation,” Smith commented.
He reminded Bermudians that one murder is too much for the island, which has a population of just over 63,000.
Police do not have a motive at this time for his death.
