Bermuda: Treadwell Butterfield, son of former MP, killed in accident
The Bermuda Police Service has confirmed the man killed in a vehicular accident on Monday was former national footballer Treadwell Kirkland Butterfield.
Butterfield,54, died early on Monday morning when he lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a kerb on Cavendish Road near the Shelton Road junction in Devonshire.
He was ejected from the motorcycle and landed on the roadway.
Police and paramedics, who responded to the crash, found Butterfield in an unresponsive state and attempted to assist him.
Butterfield sustained a serious head injury in the collision.
He was transported to King Edward Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
Butterfield was the son of author and former Progressive Labour Party Member of Parliament and environment minister, Neletha “Honey” Butterfield.
Bermudian media reported he was employed as the programme director at Care Learning Centre, which was founded by his mother.
Butterfield is the island’s 12th road fatality for 2023.
BPS has asked witnesses of the crash to come forward with their information to assist with their investigation.
