Body of missing teen washes ashore in St Vincent and the Grenadines
The body of a teenager who went missing at sea in St Vincent and the Grenadines has been found.
The Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) reported Javed Clarke’s body washed ashore at Rawacou Beach on Monday afternoon, and it was discovered by someone who was walking along the beach.
The District Medical Officer visited the scene and pronounced Clarke dead. His body was later positively identified by a relative.
Clarke,17, was reported missing on Saturday, 30th December 2023, after he went to bathe at Cedars Beach.
In a livestream on Sunday, Superintendent of Police Junior Simmons, Public Relations Officer of the RSVGPF, said Clarke, a student at the North Union Secondary School, was bathing at the beach when he encountered difficulties and went underwater around 2 pm.
An extensive search was launched, but his body was not recovered.
