Boyfriend arrested in death of Indiana toddler whose heart was ‘ripped in half’
A 27-year-old Indiana man faces criminal charges for brutally abusing his girlfriend’s toddler son, who lost his life from blunt force trauma in his pancreas and left kidney.
The heart of Aiden M. Clark, 17-month-old, “was ripped in half” and surrounded by a torn pericardium sac as well as large blood vessels, which provoked a “massive amount of haemorrhaging,” Shaquille Rowe’s arrest affidavit mentioned. According to the medical examiner’s office, Aiden lost his life less than five minutes after being severely beaten.
The boy’s mom left him and his brother in the care of Rowe. The suspect told police that he was taking a shower when Aiden started crying and ultimately became unresponsive.
Paramedics found the toddler unconscious with apparent injuries to his chest and neck after responding to Row’s 911 call. In his emergency call, he heard saying: “Why did she leave me in the house like this?”
