Carnival revelry begins in Dominica

Carnival revellers have taken over the streets of Dominica for the annual Mas Domnik J’ouvert.
From as early as 4 am, carnival lovers were dancing in the street to the beat of Soca, bouyon and Lapo Kabwit music as they enjoyed the return of carnival after a two-year break due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The J’ouvert revellers will continue their parade until around 10 am.
Activity will continue in the Dominican capital city Roseau when masqueraders from the various carnival bands parade through the streets in a mix of fancy costumes and decorative t-shirts.
