Christmas: 2022
The time around Christmas can be difficult.
Sure, Christmas can be a season of celebration and family fun, but it can also be a time when we feel lonely and forgotten.
But no matter where we live, there is a reason for joy at Christmas. It has to do with the actual reason for the holiday — Jesus Christ. He was born 2,000 years ago, and He is what we celebrate.
Jesus’ birth deserves all the attention it gets.
That’s because He was the Savior of the world that God promised thousands of years before His birth. And when He was born, it started God’s plan for His life.
Jesus lived a perfect life, but some were sceptical of Him. They didn’t like that He talked to people usually outside of society. They also didn’t want His claims to be the world’s Saviour. So they put Him to death. But this was all part of God’s plan. After dying on the cross, Jesus rose on the third day, proving that He has complete power over death. And now He is in Heaven with God, waiting to take the kingdoms of earth as His own Kingdom.
The reason Jesus had to come, die and rise again is because of our disobedience.
We are all imperfect people. But when the world was created, everything was good. God and humans had an unbroken relationship. That changed when the first humans disobeyed God and broke the trust between God and man. We continue in that disobedience today. God’s solution was to send a Savior, Jesus, to be a perfect sacrifice for us. If we believe and trust Him, we will be saved from the punishment of our disobedience.
Even if you feel lonely this holiday season, God hasn’t forgotten you. The proof is in His love for you shown through Jesus Christ. God offers a place with Him eternally if you believe and trust in Jesus. What a great reason to have joy!
