Cuba implements new sanitary measures for domestic visitors
Cuba's Ministry of Public Health announced on Saturday a new series of sanitary measures for Cubans travelling in the country, which will enter into force on July 15 to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The new restrictions will apply to Cubans arriving at the airports of the tourist areas of Varadero and Cayo Coco, where they will have to go through mandatory 14-day isolation in hotel facilities. Afterwards, they will be unable to leave the tourism areas.
Additionally, luggage restrictions have also been applied for Cuban travellers arriving at these two airports, with each passenger allotted a single piece.
The ministry also established the mandatory health screening for all airport, transportation, and tourism workers upon arrival and departure from their workplaces and the regular performance of antigen tests for greater exposure to the disease.
According to the health ministry, Cuba reported Saturday 31 deaths and 6,750 cases of COVID-19 over the last day. With these new figures, the death toll has risen to 1,490 and total infections to 231,568.
