First cannabis café opened on SVG
Cannabis enthusiasts on St Vincent and the Grenadines now have a new place to enjoy the herb publicly.
Last evening, the Greenhouse Café, the Eastern Caribbean’s first cannabis lounge, opened its doors.
The lounge is open to customers 18 and over.
A valid form of identification and a prescription from a medical doctor or the Medicinal Cannabis Authority is needed to purchase the products.
Products on the retail store menu include a pre-rolled joint for EC$15 and a THC Tincture for EC$200.
There are also CDB and THC lotions, vape cartridges and capsules.
St Vincent and the Grenadines aims to be the premier supplier of cannabis for medical, research and recreation uses.
The country was granted a license in January to export almost 50 kilograms of marijuana to Germany’s Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices.
In announcing the news, Agriculture Minister Saboto Caesar said Saint Vincent and the Grenadines have worked over the last three years with international agencies, friendly governments and local public and private sector stakeholders to make this a reality.
“St Vincent and the Grenadines is ready for global business in the Medicinal Wellness Industry Space.
We invite the world to participate! SVG has opened a significant global opportunity for collaboration among member states of the OECS wishing to participate in the international medical cannabis industry,” Caesar said.
