Grenada: Gov’t to transition MNIB into Public Private Partnership
The Government of Grenada will discuss its plans on the way forward for the Marketing and National Importing Board (MNIB) in a special briefing on Monday.
The State says it has taken the difficult decision to dissolve the operations of the MNIB and restart the entity as a Public Private Partnership, following extensive consultations with stakeholders on the most effective way forward.
A comprehensive review of all recommendations emanating from the town hall meetings held in January 2023, in addition to dialogue with staff and management of the MNIB, and input from additional private sector stakeholders, informed the Government’s decision.
Earlier this week, meetings were held with the Board and the Unions representing employees to communicate the Government’s plans.
Consultations are expected to continue with all parties, including creditors and other stakeholders, as the transition progresses.
