Grenada's Government Information Service (GIS) to be revamped
The Ministry of Information in Grenada has announced that the Government Information Service (GIS) will soon begin a restructuring process to strengthen the delivery of news and information that matters most to citizens.
In a statement, it says leading professional services firm Ernst and Young, commonly known as EY, has been contracted to lead the organisational restructuring and change management process, ensuring that the GIS is positioned for long-term success. The EY team successfully conducted the restructuring of the Jamaica Information Service (JIS).
Government Advisor, Orlando Romain, said the goal of the initiative is to streamline operations, make better use of resources and provide training, where necessary, to maintain high standards of content creation and dissemination.
“The new structure will allow the Government Information Service to better serve the Grenadian public by providing news and information holistically that seeks to educate and engage.”
Romain noted that the restructuring process would also include investing in innovative technologies and tools to improve workflows and enhance the ability to gather, report, and distribute news.
"We are confident that these changes will result in a stronger and more effective GIS,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Government Information Service (GIS) announces a change to its broadcasting schedule.
Starting this week, the nightly National Report will be replaced by a weekly news wrap-up that seeks to provide a more comprehensive and in-depth look at the critical news stories of the week.
“As a government news station, our goal is to provide viewers with accurate and reliable information about the policies, initiatives, and events shaping the country,” said Leslie Ann Johnson, GIS Director Ag. “This new format will allow our team to deliver information more efficiently and effectively – through strategic programming that features the latest updates, analysis, and expert commentary on the issues that matter most to citizens.”
The new GIS format will also feature particular segments on inspiring individuals, cultural events, and human-interest stories that inspire and engender pride in Grenada’s unique heritage and culture.
Viewers have been informed that they could join the GIS every Friday at 6:30 pm for the new weekly news wrap-up.
