Guyana: 30-year-old labourer arrested for marijuana possession
A 30-year-old labourer was arrested on Saturday afternoon after an intelligence-led operation uncovered marijuana at his residence.
The Guyana Police Force reported that Daniel Brown, a resident of Eccles, East Bank Demerara, was taken into custody for possession of 863 grams of marijuana.
According to the police, Brown was approached at his two-storey concrete home by officers who requested permission to enter and conduct a search. Brown did not object. During the search, officers discovered a plastic bag containing leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be marijuana on a sofa in the living room.
The findings were presented to Brown, who was informed of the offence and cautioned. He was then arrested and taken to the Farm/Herstelling Police Station, where the suspected marijuana was weighed in his presence, confirming a total of 863 grams.
Brown remains in custody as investigations continue.
