Guyana to have a digital COVID-19 vaccination card soon
Guyana is in the process of acquiring specialized equipment to digitize its coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination database.
Once the system is up and running, Guyanese will receive cards that they can use locally to show that they comply with the vaccine requirement to access certain public buildings.
At today’s COVID-19 Update, Health Minister Dr Frank Anthony explained the equipment needed should be in the country by the end of March.
“We have a special team within the ministry working on digitization. We have got most of the physical registers, and we are now putting that in a digital format. A lot of the work has already been completed,” the minister said.
“Since last year we have been working with [United Nations Development Program] to buy some of the equipment that is necessary [such as] the computers, the specialized printers and so forth. So we expect that we will get delivery of that special equipment to print the new cards within the first quarter of this year.”
Over 302,704 people in Guyana are fully vaccinated.
