Illegal Migrants and drugs found at Grand Bahama resort
Five illegal migrants and several drugs were recovered by the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) in Grand Bahama last evening.
RBPF reported that its Drug Enforcement Unit received information that several migrants were housed at a resort located at Rum Cay Drive in Freeport.
After surveilling the compound, cops approached a room at the resort, and they found a Bahamian man standing guard outside.
He was reportedly shown a warrant, and cops then searched the room where they found a Belgian man, an Indian man, and three Dominican nationals.
A quantity of marijuana was also found hidden under a bed.
Cops additionally found marijuana and hashish oil in a van that belonged to the Bahamian man.
The cannabis had a combined street value of $336,000, while the oil was worth $23,000.
The Bahamian was taken into police custody while the migrants were handed over to immigration for further processing.
The RBPF said it would continue its priority efforts to disrupt drug trafficking and human smuggling routes in the North Bahamas Islands.
