Jamaica: Man accused of stabbing taxi driver 13 times

A man accused of stabbing a taxi operator 13 times was brought before a senior parish judge on Tuesday to answer the charge of unlawful wounding.

Collin McPherson pleaded not guilty to the offence when he stood before Senior Parish Judge Lori-Ann Cole-Montague at the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.

It was alleged that on December 20, 2022, McPherson took the taxi operator's vehicle in Half Way Tree, St Andrew and stabbed the cabbie 13 times. No additional details were provided.

However, McPherson's attorney told the court that his client “was not in the vicinity” of the incident.

Given that the medical report is outstanding, Cole-Montague ordered that both parties return to court on March 23.

An order was also made for the investigating officer to be subpoenaed to complete the file.
