LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Dear Editor,
I not a journalist
I just know this place.
In the Caribbean
Our leaders are so corrupt
They abuse the national treasury
Neglect social security
And keep working people in poverty
While they spend their time
Scheming
For pomp and power
To fill their pockets
With white-collar-crime cash money.
We live in countries
Where democracy is manipulated.
When your vote
To elect a leader
Is easily bought and sold
Life is hard.
Is a pity
To see a lot of working people
Depend on handouts
Because the local economy
Is saturated
Stagnant
Starved
I live in a place
Where votes can be bought
For food baskets and bill payments
Because the economy is not booming
No matter what they say.
Reality Is
When the people you choose
To lead
Don’t help any-and-all of us
To thrive
People sell their vote
Just to survive.
Ain’t that newsworthy?
