Man arrested for attacking 14 year old boy, Plymouth JA
A man has appeared in court concerning an attack that saw a Taranaki teenager taken to Wellington Hospital with head injuries.
A 14-year-old boy was seriously injured.
At the time, Detective Daniel Coomey said the teenager had been in the Mangati Rd car park, near Bell Block Beach, around 5.20 pm when a vehicle approached him.
The passenger of the car got out and tried to get the boy's backpack off him.
“They hit him over the head with a weapon,” Coomey said. “He was seriously assaulted and his bag stolen from him.”
In a statement, police media said New Plymouth officers had arrested a man connected with an aggravated robbery at Bell Block Beach, New Plymouth, on Easter Monday, April 5.
A 27-year-old man has appeared in New Plymouth District Court.
His next appearance, on a charge of aggravated robbery, is set for Thursday.
Police continue to make inquiries into the incident and would still like to hear from anyone who has any information which may assist, the statement said.
