Acting on information, police went to Bacardi Road around 3:30 a.m. The officers saw an omnibus, number 2911, driving with its headlights off, Sergeant Kendrick Bauld told the court.
The officers beckoned for the driver to stop. The bus driver refused to yield and attempted to elude the authorities.
The pursuit came to an end in a track road on Boatswain Hill, and the driver fled.
The officers found marijuana, worth $3,053,000, inside the bus, and they arrested Ferguson a short time later.
During his police interview, Ferguson admitted to transporting the marijuana haul.
Attorney Wendawn Miller-Frazer asked Senior Magistrate Defence Rolle-Davis to be lenient on the bodywork technician.
She noted that the offence was his first conviction.
