Man shot and killed, woman injured on Peardale Road, Bahamas
A 24-year-old man was shot and killed yesterday on Peardale Road during an incident that left a woman injured, police said.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man lying in the street with gunshot wounds. According to police, they also found a woman with gunshot wounds.
Police said the incident took place shortly before 4 p.m.
Police said the woman was transported to the hospital. Her condition was unknown up to press time.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The victim was identified as Christopher Humes Jr.
“The initial investigation is that the persons who were in the vehicle came by a residence here and as they stopped, some unknown persons stopped them and discharged the firearms at the vehicle causing injury to both persons who were in the vehicle,” ASP Audley Peters told reporters at the scene.
He said the suspects fled the scene on foot.
The victim’s father, Christopher Humes Sr., said he was in bed when he found out that his son had been killed.
“I just come from work, lay down, and they say, ‘Your son dead’,” Humes said.
He said his son didn’t bother with anyone.
Humes described him as a good cook who had recently gotten a job as a cook on Rose Island.
He said he last saw his son on Tuesday and last spoke to him on Wednesday.
When asked what message he wanted to send to the individuals who killed his son, Humes said, “Whoever killed my son, I hope y’all out there feeling good, man.
“God be with y’all. God be with y’all, bey. If I was y’all, turn yourself in because y’all killed an innocent fella. Y’all killed an innocent man who just started work and wanted to spend time with his daddy.”
