Mom of missing dancehall artiste Medikk: 'I am desperate!'
Businesswoman Millicent McCurdy, the mother of dancehall artiste and holistics entrepreneur Stephanie 'Medikk' Williams, on Tuesday led a protest outside the Constant Spring Police Station in St Andrew.
She was joined by protestors from the western end of the island who are sympathetic to her cause of highlighting her daughter's disappearance and standing in solidarity with the families of other missing women and men who have disappeared without a trace in Jamaica.
"We have to let our voices be heard, it cannot be business as usual," McCurdy said.
Medikk, whose real name is Stephanie Williams, has been missing for almost five weeks. She was last seen on August 24, wearing black tights, shoes, and a black top.
The 29 year-old is of brown complexion, slim build and is about 5 feet 7 inches tall.
Anyone with information can call 311, and if the information leads to her safe return, they will have access to a $1-million reward.
McCurdy said that her daughter is more than a dancehall artiste.
"These crimes are impacting people in so many ways, she is no Medikk, she is my Stephanie. I don't know why she got involved in this dancehall thing. I am imploring all daughters to listen to their mothers. Let this be a warning to all the girls out there, be careful what you get caught up into. Listen to your mothers," McCurdy said.
Medikk entered the music scene in 2018 as a 24-year-old. She is best known for songs such as 'Money Feelings' and her growing catalogue of collaborations such as 'Overcome' featuring Shane O, and 'Boss Level' featuring Jahvillani.
