Mother of murdered 4-year-old boy pleads guilty to child abuse in US Virgin Islands
Delicia Daniel, the mother of murdered 4-year-old Aaron Benjamin Jr, has pled guilty to child abuse.
US Virgin Islands Attorney General, Denise George, announced last evening that Daniel pled guilty to Child Abuse in violation of Title 3 US Virgin Islands Code § 505(a) during a plea hearing on Friday, October 22, 2021, in the Superior Court of St Croix.
Daniel, 31, faces a fine of not less than $500 and up to 20 years imprisonment.
Daniel and her boyfriend Kyle Christopher were charged with murder in the First Degree (four counts), Child Abuse (two counts), Child Neglect (two counts), Aggravated Child Abuse and Neglect (two counts), Assault in the Third Degree (two counts) following Benjamin’s death in 2019.
They had pled not guilty.
All charges remain pending against Christopher.
Daniel’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for January 21, 2022
Benjamin died at the Juan F Luis Hospital, one-day after Christopher allegedly struck him.
Christopher told police that he slapped Benjamin in the face for stealing his sister’s Caprisun drink.
He allegedly stumbled and fell, hitting his head against a chair.
