NAWASA to implement selective shutdown of Grenada's water system
From 5 pm, the National Water and Sewerage Authority (NAWASA) will institute a selective shutdown of its water distribution network across Grenada.
NAWASA said this was determined to be the best option to safeguard its employees and vital infrastructure during the passage of potential tropical cyclone two later today.
“Expected heavy rainfall can render water systems highly susceptible to turbidity and dam blockages hindering water production for an extended period,” NAWASA said.
The Annandale, Mardigras, Morne Delice and Chemin Valley facilities will remain open. The water supply is expected to resume tomorrow.
NAWASA added that it will monitor weather conditions and will interrupt the supply if it becomes necessary without prior notice given.
Meanwhile, NAWASA expressed gratitude that Grenadians heeded its call yesterday for persons to fill up and prepare themselves for the disturbance’s passage.
