No more curfew in Grenada
Yesterday (December 7), the curfew in Grenada, which was implemented back in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was removed.
Minister of Health Nickolas Steele announced during today’s Post Cabinet media briefing.
Grenada first went under a mandatory curfew back in March 2020, with changes being made to the time and extensions based on the COVID situation in the country.
Based on the current situation, the health minister says Cabinet has endorsed that the curfew, which exists from midnight to 4 am, be removed from yesterday (December 7).
Steele says it was done based on the current epidemiological situation stating its removal. Grenada currently has 68 active cases.
The second reason was that the government believes the midnight to 4 is curfew has been psychosocial effects on the population. As a result, the health minister says a balance must be sought, and at this point, they believe it is possible to safely remove the curfew and hopefully not have to bring it back.
So how does the discontinuation of the curfew affect business hours? The minister says businesses can now open later as there is no restriction on the hours of circulation on the public or hours of business concerning the COVID regulations in Grenada.
