PM Rowley 'not distracted' by 'T&T falling apart' statement
Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Dr Keith Rowley has responded to controversial statements made by Guyana's Vice-President Bharrat Jagdeo, who earlier this week said, "Trinidad and Tobago is falling apart."
Speaking at a media conference at the Diplomatic Centre, St Ann’s, on Saturday, Dr Rowley said he is "not distracted by Jagdeo's comments.
He said: "There are many people in Guyana, and I am not distracted by vice-president Jagdeo's comments about us. A lot of people comment about us, some favourably and some not. We will not be distracted by that."
Dr Rowley was also asked by reporters to clarify his statements in Parliament earlier this week, in which he asked Naparima MP Rodney Charles why he doesn't go to Guyana.
He responded: "I was speaking about Rodney Charles of Trinidad and Tobago and where he wants to go. That has nothing to with Guyana because Rodney Charles goes to places that have nothing to do with Guyana. I must admit that I did lose my cool at that moment."
