PM Dr Rowley to deliver statement at African-Caribbean Community CARICOM Summit
Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley will deliver a statement at the first African-Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Summit scheduled to occur virtually tomorrow. The summit aims to formalise the African Union and CARICOM relationship through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which is currently under negotiation by the two bodies. Prime Minister Dr the Hon Keith Rowley will participate and deliver a statement at the first African-Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Summit scheduled to occur virtually tomorrow (Tuesday 07 September 2021).
President of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta and the Hon. Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua & Barbuda and CARICOM Chairman, are among those who are also scheduled to deliver remarks.
The Summit aims to formalise the relationship between the African Union and CARICOM through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which is currently under negotiation by the two bodies.
Tomorrow’s talks will explore opportunities to strengthen the linkages between Africa and the Caribbean regions by addressing economic and communication challenges.
The Summit further aims to harness the opportunities accrue through integration in trade and investments, debt and development financing, blue economy, gender issues, culture and sports, emerging environmental and climate change, terrorism and violent extremism.
