Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce wins 100m, headed to fourth Olympic Games
Jamaica — Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is headed to her fourth Olympic Games after winning the women's 100 metres on Friday's second day of the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) Ministry of Health/Supreme Ventures National Senior Championships at the national stadium.
The three-time Olympic Games 100m champion ran 10.71 seconds (1.0m/s) to hold off late-charging Shericka Jackson and win her fourth national 100-metre title.
Jackson, who was the big surprise of the championships, stepping down from the 400 metres, was second in 10.82 seconds after her personal best 10.77 seconds in the semi-finals, while Elaine Thompson-Herah will defend her Olympic title after placing third in 10.84 seconds.
National junior record holder Briana Williams was fourth in 11.01 seconds, followed by Remona Burchell in11.15 seconds and Natasha Morrison in 11.16 seconds. They are expected to make up the 4x100 metre relay pool.
