Sint Maarten: Cops seeking assistance in a case where reckless bikers injured a baby
Detectives from the Sint Maarten Police Force are busy investigating an incident where the rear window of a passenger car was smashed with a stone by a scooter rider on the Airport road, and a baby was injured.
The incident occurred on October 15.
Minister of Justice Anna E. Richardson has renewed her call on the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Sint Maarten to take severe and swift action against all reckless behaviour exhibited by riders of motorcycles and scooters on the island.
As a point of the first action, Richardson sent a communication to the Attorney General of Sint Maarten and Curacao, Ton Maan, calling for his attention to prioritizing this matter.
The minister also contacted the parents of the four-month-old baby on Monday to offer her apology for the unfortunate experience and expressed that her thoughts were with the family during this time.
“I’m grateful the baby is recovering well and that she’s said to be in good spirit,” said Minister Richardson.
In the course of this current investigation, several video images have been compiled by the police. In the footage collected, police can see the scooter riders; however, the quality of the footage makes it difficult to identify the persons involved.
The police note what is apparent is that there were several witnesses in the vicinity while this incident was taking place.
The detectives investigating this incident ask anyone to please get in touch with the Sint Maarten Police Force.
