Sint Maarten’s PM saddened by Anguilla cemetery shooting
Prime Minister of Sint Maarten Silveria Jacobs has sent words of comfort to its Anguilla following the tragic shooting at Sandy Ground Cemetery, which left two persons dead and others injured on Wednesday.
PM Jacobs extended condolences to the people of Anguilla and those in Sint Maarten, particularly to those who have lost their loved ones in what she described as the appalling criminal act that unfolded in such a vicious way.
Jacobs said the cemetery, a place of solemnity and respect, was desecrated by unspeakable violence and heartbreak; families are shattered, and their communities are in mourning.
“To those who were injured in this senseless act of violence, we pray for a complete recovery. May you find strength in the love and care of your family and community, and may the wounds, both physical and emotional, heal with time.”
Sint Maarten’s Prime Minister said: “Acts of violence have no place in our societies, and we must collectively hold tight to our compassion so that it triumphs over hatred.
In this grief, I support our brothers and sisters in Anguilla. The pain they endure is unimaginable, and I urge others to offer our unwavering empathy, love and assistance to help them through these dark days.”
