SKN: Roberitine Webbe appointed new Director of the Creative Economy
Congratulations have been pouring in for Roberitine Webbe, appointed the new Director of the Creative Economy in St Kitts and Nevis.
Webbe, 22, is the youngest person to hold this post.
Samal Duggins, Minister for the Creative Economy, in a congratulatory message online, noted Webbe’s educational background.
He said Webbe had earned three degrees, including a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Monroe College, NY; Bachelor of Art in Dance from Hunter College, NY; and Master of Art in Arts Administration from Baruch College, all of which she graduated with honours and attained various scholarships, awards and leadership positions during her academic tenure.
The minister said while living abroad in the United States, Webbe worked with top international accounting firms, known as the Big Four, as an audit associate and intern at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and KPMG, respectively.
She has a wealth of experience and knowledge in the cultural and creative industries, with almost two decades of experience as a dancer and performer. She is also a trained and certified choreographer and dance educator.
Webbe is also the Director of the following organisations: Bold Force SKN, a nonprofit creative arts organisation; Bold Carnival, a children's carnival mas band and Advanced Dance Agency (ADA), a professional dance company.
Duggins added: “MsWebbe, I am thrilled to have you on board, and I expect nothing but greatness from you! Welcome!”
Meanwhile, St Kitts and Nevis National Carnival, in its congratulatory message, noted Roberitine was the 2013 St Kitts-Nevis National Carnival Talented Teen Queen and, in 2014, the First Runner Up in the Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant.
Presently she is the co-owner of Bold Carnival, a children's carnival mas band.
She was awarded the National Award for The 25 Most Remarkable Teens in Youth Activism through the Performing Arts (2014) and, in 2016, earned the position of Top Regional Student of the CAPE Performing Arts - Dance (Unit 2).
With her qualifications, the wealth of experience and knowledge in the cultural and creative industries, the National Carnival Committee says it is eager to collaborate with Webbe and her staff to ensure that St Kitts-Nevis’ Creative Economy breaks boundaries and makes history.
