Teen acquitted of attempted murder of woman in the Bahamas
A teenager was yesterday acquitted of stabbing a woman during a fight.
Prosecutors alleged that the 17-year-old attacked the woman on December 23, 2020, after a dice game at Lazaretto Road.
However, the teen contended, and the jury accepted that he acted in self-defence.
The teen testified that he had won the dice game against the woman’s brothers, and they attacked him as he left with his winnings.
The woman claimed that she was trying to part the fight when the teen stabbed her in the eye, neck and back.
But the teen said that she joined her brothers in ganging him.
He also alleged that the brothers shot up his home later that day.
The jury acquitted the teen of attempted murder and the alternative charge of grievous bodily harm.
Miranda Adderley represented the teen at his trial before Justice Jeanine Weech-Gomez.
