Texas mom shot at 50 times, killed in garage as she stepped out of car: ‘It was like a machine gun
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office has asked residents of a west Houston neighbourhood to check surveillance cameras that may depict the moment a beloved mom was gunned down in her own garage Tuesday morning.
Valencia Duncan, a 31-year-old mom of a teen boy, had just arrived home at around 5:30 a.m. and pulled into the garage when a gunman targeted her, spraying her with at least 50 bullets.
“The only information we have is a dark colour vehicle pulled up, someone got out and shot approximately 50 rounds at her,” Major Susan Cotter said.
“She pulled into the garage, she was able to exit the vehicle, and she was found deceased in the garage.”Neighbours described hearing the shots being fired early in the morning like “a machine gun.”
“I feel safe living here. I never worry about closing my eyes and going to sleep – not once – so yeah, it was a shock,” Block Captain Rhonda Thornton said.
We mostly have just a few things going on, maybe unlocked cars getting broken into, something being stolen out of a garage, but other than that, nothing like this.”
The father of Duncan’s 11-year-old son said that the victim was not the kind of person to get in trouble. It’s got to be something else behind this. She’s not like that. She doesn’t get into any altercations. As I said, she’s a lovely person.”
