Thirteen Venezuelan nationals rescued from vessel near Curacao
A ship with thirteen undocumented Venezuelan citizens onboard was found near Curacao this morning. The group included six women, six men and one child.
The Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard states the Coast Guard detected a floating contact near Curacao.
As the boat approached, the crew saw people on board waving flashlights. Once they got closer to the vessel, the staff found multiple people on board.
The individuals reported that their vessel had experienced motor failure and could not sail further.
The Coast Guard Rescue and Coordination Center immediately set sail a patrol boat to assist the vessel and the individuals.
Once at the location, it turned out to be a vessel with 13 undocumented people on board. They were all transferred to the Curaçao Police Corps.
The investigation into this case is ongoing.
