Tobago man charged with rape of teen
A Tobago man was granted bail for $70,000 when he appeared before a Magistrate last week, charged with sexual penetration of an 18-year-old woman.
Devon Stewart, 25, a labourer of Patience Hill, was charged with the offence when he appeared before Magistrate Debby Ann Bashaw, in the Scarborough Magistrates’ First Court, on December 3rd, 2021.
As part of his bail conditions, the accused was also ordered to stay away from the woman, refrain from communicating with her by any means, and report to the Shirvan Road Police Station, once per week.
The matter was adjourned to December 30th, 2021.
On November 10th, 2020, the victim reported that she went to the home of a friend of the accused, where he allegedly had sexual intercourse with her against her will.
The incident was reported to the Tobago Division Child Protection Unit, and an investigation was launched.
The accused was arrested on December 1st, 2021, and charged on December 2nd, 2021.
Investigations were supervised by W/Supt. Claire Guy-Alleyne, ASP (Ag.) Roberts and Sgt. Miller, all of the Child Protection Unit.
