Tobago man held as marijuana is seized from ferry
One man was arrested at the Port Compound, Scarborough, by officers of the Tobago Divisional Task Force, in connection with marijuana offences.
Reports indicate that around 6:55 pm on Sunday, Task Force officers, assisted by officers of the Canine Unit and Port Authority, conducted an exercise at the Scarborough Port, during which vehicles and people disembarking the APT James Ferry were randomly stopped and searched.
In a media release, the TTPS said during the exercise, a silver Nissan Tiida motor vehicle driven by a 47-year-old Buccoo Road man was searched.
Further investigations led officers to proceed onto the ferry, where they found and seized a bag containing many packages containing marijuana.
The drug had an estimated total weight of five kilogrammes.
The male suspect was arrested in connection with the find.
